Hamilton County approves transfer of 1,300 McDonald Farm acres to create state park

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Hamilton County commissioners voted unanimously Wednesday to transfer 1,300 acres of McDonald Farm to the state to create Roaring Creek State Park.

County Mayor Weston Wamp says the push will have a positive impact on families for generations.

“What I’m thinking about are the generations of families that will gather there, all the memories that will be made long after we’re all gone,” said Wamp. “I think it’s a perspective that Commissioner Beck often eloquently brings to these meetings: Sometimes we get to make these decisions that will have a reverberating impact. I don’t know that there’s one of quite this scope.”…
