A Lifelong Love of Horses
If you know me, you know it’s no secret that I love horses. I love them so much that I occasionally write for a couple of national equine magazines, and I serve as the Horse and Pony Superintendent for Warrick County 4-H. Plus, I have a couple of my own.
I actually inherited my horse from my daughter. He’s slow, steady, and super safe. Perfect for a tenderfoot like me. My daughter prefers them a little spicier, so after she graduated from our old Tuck Tuck Bo Buck, she moved up to a thoroughbred with a big motor. But before I had Tuck, I spent plenty of time sitting on the sidelines watching the kids for hours.
I’d seize every opportunity to ride. I’d ride friends’ horses. I’d ride horses at the barn where we board that needed some extra miles on them. I’d even book trail rides when we went on vacation. (Thunderhorse Outfitters in Austin, Texas, and Grand Lake, Colorado, is so excellent that we’re actually visiting Colorado this summer just to go on his Rocky Mountain trail ride.)
