COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. — A snack made right here in our area is part of a growing national shift away from artificial food dyes.
McKee Foods, the Collegedale-based company behind Little Debbie snacks, says it has already removed Red Dye No. 3 from its products and plans to phase out additional synthetic colors in the coming years.
The company confirmed the change to our newsroom this week, saying the dye was removed in January 2026, ahead of any legal requirement.
The company says it is now working to remove other certified colors by the end of 2027…
