Tennessee kicking off “Operation Hands Free” for safer roads

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Safety Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol, divisions of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, are partnering with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, local law enforcement and other traffic safety agencies to launch “Operation Hands Free” on April 1.

The campaign aims to crack down on violations of Tennessee’s hands-free driving law during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Officials will kick off the effort with press events in Nashville, Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville on April 1 at 10 a.m…
