Walker County Animal Control officers have located the owner of three severely neglected dogs rescued earlier this week at McWilliams Cemetery, and the animals have now been surrendered to Walker County Animal Shelter (WCAS). Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
The dogs were discovered Monday morning after animal control officers responded to a report of abandoned animals at McWilliams Cemetery on West Armuchee Road and Smith Gap Road. A concerned citizen had reported seeing three dogs left at the cemetery Sunday evening.
When officers arrived, they found two emaciated dogs running loose through the cemetery, frightened and searching for food. While attempting to safely capture them, officers heard a faint sound coming from a nearby drainage pipe.
