Walker County Coroner Billy Sims is now operating from a new location, giving the office expanded capabilities and improved service for local families.
Sims and his team have moved into the northeastern corner of the Walker County Health Department building on Villanow Street in LaFayette. The updated space includes dedicated office areas as well as a refrigerated morgue, allowing families to view their loved ones within the county.
Previously, the coroner’s office had to transport bodies to outside facilities, including CHI Memorial Hospital, until they could be released to family members. The new location eliminates that need, providing a more convenient and local option during difficult times…
