CLAY COUNTY, N.C. — Erlanger LIFE FORCE Air Medical of Chattanooga completed its first operational K-9 transport Tuesday, flying a K-9 officer from Clay County, North Carolina, to the UT College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville.
The mission marked the first time the program was activated for a live transport in the field after the agency conducted training simulations and “dry runs” with veterinary partners.
LIFE FORCE says using air assets reduces transport time by hours, helping the K-9 to reach specialized trauma care within the critical “Golden Hour.”
According to UT Police, the K-9 involved in this airlift was 6-year-old Luca, a Belgian Malinois with the Criminal Investigation Division at the Clay County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina…
