CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Concerns are growing at Chattanooga city council as the restoration of the Walnut Street Bridge continues.
Councilwoman Jenny Hill says the project is more than 30-percent over budget.
Jerramy Wood with Chattanooga Public Works says the project is complex, and crew continue to find problem areas.
“I think a lot of stuff with the Walnut Street Bridge was ‘sight unseen.’ So, whenever the contractors got into it, it was worse than what we anticipated. There was a lot of structural damage that was in there as far as the fluctuation with the integrity of the steel beams,” Woods says.
