NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It’s often said there is no such thing as a routine deployment for the U.S. Navy.
The deployment for USS Gerald R. Ford in 2025 started with a trip to the Middle East, then to the Caribbean and back to the Middle East for Operation Epic Fury. That’s where the ship had an epic plumbing problem that was followed by a fire. The ship spent 326 days at sea.
