Norfolk cocaine dealer receives 30-year prison sentence

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Norfolk cocaine dealer was sentenced on June 9 to 30 years in prison on his convictions for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and illegal firearm possession related to drug trafficking.

The sentencing stems from a case where law enforcement conducted several controlled purchases of cocaine from Maurice Johnson in January 2025. At the time of these purchases, Johnson was on federal supervised release due to previous felony convictions in the Eastern District of Virginia for similar drug and firearm offenses.

In February 2025, the Norfolk Police Department searched three Norfolk residences linked to Johnson. During these searches, authorities recovered 11 firearms, ammunition and magazines.The searches also yielded 87.8 grams of cocaine, 17.9 grams of cocaine base, 236.4 grams of marijuana and $313 in cash.
