NORFOLK, Va., (WAVY) — The final defendant in a $31 million coupon fraud scheme was sentenced June 16 to three years and five months in prison.
Sherise Williams, 40, of Palmetto, Fla., was sentenced for mail fraud. She bought counterfeit coupons from Lori Ann Talens, of Virginia Beach, Va., in bulk quantities on 274 occasions for a total of $19,821.34, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Virginia.

For each dollar paid to Talens, her customers received approximately $50 in fraudulent coupons. Williams caused approximately $991,067 in damages to retailers and manufacturers at this ratio.
