SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — In the parking lot is where a Suffolk family took refuge after a problem with the fire suppression system Sunday night flooded the entire building.

As Lesette Bowers sat in the driver’s seat, her nine-month-old son played with the steering wheel. Her mother sat on the front passenger side while a neighbor sat in the rear seat. “It’s a big problem — my child here, my mom’s here,” Bowers said.
April Ruffin says the flood comes at a difficult time, as she pays $1,400 per month for rent.
“The floors [were] flooded and they were flooded to my ankle,” Ruffin said. “They just shut off the power. they mopped it was dark.”…
