VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Police Department Cold Case Homicide Unit investigates unsolved homicides using advanced forensic technology and new witness leads.
Currently, VBPD has more than 60 cold case homicides, and Virginia Beach Cold Case Detective Laura Pratt handles the significant case load.
“We have, I believe, 70 sexual assault cases,” Pratt said. “We have long-term missing persons’ cases. We have unidentified human remains cases. So our squad actively works on all of those cases, and we’re always reviewing them to see what else we can do for testing, how we can follow-up, if there’s people that need to be re-interviewed.”…
