NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — An American Eagle flight from Philadelphia that was heading for Wilmington, North Carolina diverted to Norfolk International Airport Monday due to reported smoke in the cockpit, a spokesperson from the airport said.
In a statement from American Airlines, which operates American Eagle, it said Flight 5816, operated by Piedmont Airlines, diverted to Norfolk International due to a “possible mechanical issue.”
