VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Wayne Russell of Virginia Beach made a significant donation to Families of Autism Coming Together (FACT) after a story about the non-profit aired on WAVY News 10 Today. Russell said he made the donation to honor the memory of his beloved wife, Sylvia.
“She was the sweetest person I ever met,” said Russell.
He believes their love story began just days before they even met.
“I was at my niece’s wedding in Pittsburgh, and a garter hit my leg. I picked it up. I said, ‘I don’t want any parts of this,’ and threw it. They said, ‘You touched it. You have to do whatever the ceremony is!’ Then, 22 days later on November the 2nd, 1991, I was at the Lawson Company 25th Anniversary picnic, and I saw (Sylvia) from probably 30 feet away, and I was melting. It’s like God put her here for me, and I fell in love at first sight.”…
