A jury has convicted Steven Edward Williams Jr., of Norfolk, Virginia, of murder after he shot and killed his childhood friend, Norman Hollowell Jr., during an argument over a television set inside Hollowell’s apartment.
The shooting happened on July 24, 2024. According to investigators, the conflict started over a television that Williams’s brother had left behind after moving out of Hollowell’s residence. Although the brother promised to retrieve the TV, he never did, prompting Hollowell to sell it. When Williams found out, he repeatedly called Hollowell to confront him.
On the day of the shooting, Hollowell was babysitting his nephew and making deliveries when he agreed to meet Williams at the apartment. After arriving, Hollowell left his nephew secured inside his car, sent an “I love you” text message to his mother, and went inside to speak with Williams.
