NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)- Nearly a century after first opening its gates, Norfolk’s Barraud Park is entering a new era with a multimillion-dollar renovation that reimagines this historic community landmark for generations to come.
The community is invited to join Mayor Kenneth Cooper Alexander, Ph.D., City Council Members and the Department of Parks and Recreation in a special ribbon cutting and grand reopening celebration on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. The celebration will continue after the ceremony with a variety of recreational activities, entertainment, and opportunities for residents to explore the park’s improvements.
The $4.5 million renovation includes newly constructed sports courts, enhanced green spaces, shelters, and other updated amenities designed to serve residents of all ages, abilities, and interests and create opportunities for people to play, gather, connect, and enjoy the outdoors…
