PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — A man charged with first-degree murder used an ax to strike and kill his victim before burning the body and placing it in a ditch, according to a Portsmouth Police probable cause statement.
Gregory Coffey, 53, was arraigned Thursday morning in Portsmouth General District Court in connection to the death of 47-year-old Gordon Randolph Tillman Jr. Aside from the murder charge, he faces a count of defiling a dead, human body. He is being held without bail.
