Gold ring of mother who died in Chesapeake stolen

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Back on Aug. 11, 79-year-old Carrolyn Thompson was admitted to Chesapeake Regional Medical Center for complications due to dementia. Two days later, she died.

Fifty-eight minutes before her mother died, her daughter, Christy Peele, said she took a photo of the two of them holding hands.

“My mom and I had never had the same color nail polish,” Peele said. “And so, when she was taken into the hospital and she was in the ER, she was excited that our nails matched.”

It was a memory that would trigger an investigation…
