CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A Chesapeake man received an unpleasant surprise when he opened his mail to find a water bill totaling nearly $2,000.
Al Bailey, who has lived at his Greenbrier-area condominium for more than 14 years, thought he was fully paid up on his water utility account. Last week, however, he said he received a 40-page bill with charges dating back to 2023. It showed the total due is $1,977.70. Bailey noted that his bill is typically in the $100 to $200 range.
“Honestly, I was flabbergasted,” Bailey said. “I could not believe that. They sent me a 40-page bill for almost $2,000.”…
