Abandoned boats removal from Virginia Waterways continues

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Lynnhaven River NOW, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring and protecting Virginia Beach’s waterways, and the BoatUS Foundation have removed 75 abandoned and derelict vessels (ADVs) from Virginia coastal waterways since 2022.

These boats have fallen into disrepair with owners no longer able to take care of them. As marine debris, they pollute waterways, damage shoreline habitats, and create navigational hazards.
