NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries when he struck a stopped van in Newport News Tuesday evening, the police department confirmed. Newport News police said a motorcyclist, 33-year-old James Bamburg, was heading south on Jefferson Avenue near Regency Square just before 5:30 p.m. when a van crossed the south lanes and came to a halt at the intersection. Bamburg subsequently struck the van.
