NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — One person is dead after an early morning house fire on Hampton Avenue in Newport News.
Around 4:20 a.m. dispatch received a call about a house fire on the 1200 block of Hampton Avenue with someone was trapped on the second floor.
When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the two-story home.
Two people were able to get out, and firefighters rescued a third person from the house. The third person lost the life as a result of the fire.
The fire is being investigated by the Newport News Fire Marshal’s Office.
