NNPD needs help locating 35th St. homicide suspect

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — The Newport News Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with locating a homicide suspect.

Police identified Paul Joseph Mulleano, 39, of Newport News as a suspect in the murder of Jave Irvin Edwards Jr.

On Jan. 27 just before 8 p.m., officers were called to the 1100 block of 35th Street for a ShotSpotter activation. They arrived on the scene to find Edwards suffering from a gunshot wound. The 38-year-old man was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Mulleano is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weights around 145 pounds. He may also have pink and black braids. Mulleano may be using the alias Goo-Goo.

Police said, Mulleano is wanted on charges that include second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and other weapons offenses.
