Osprey rescued by 2 Newport News Firefighters

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Two Newport News firefighters rescued an osprey on the beach near the end of 30th Street Friday.

Initially, they thought the bird was feeding on fish but then noticed he was trapped in fishing line.

Shortly after contacting a Newport News Park Ranger, they used a blanket a shears to free the bird.

The bird was able to fly away after being rescued.
