NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula announced the return of their 17th Annual Smart Smiles 5K.
The event is scheduled to take place on Aug. 17 at the picturesque Mariners’ Museum & Park in Newport News.
Check-in begins at 7 a.m. with the race officially kicking off at 8 a.m. Open to both seasoned runners and casual walkers of all ages, registration is $30 per individual, with discounted rates available for teams of three or more, and for students and those under 18.
The event aims to raise vital funds for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula’s Health and Wellness initiatives to benefit local youths and families.
Participants also have the chance to win an array of awards. Prizes will be presented to the top three overall male and female walkers and runners, as well as the top three male and female runners in each age group spanning from 14 and under to 70 and over.
Early birds can opt for race bag pick-up on Friday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the BGCVP Administrative Offices located at 11825 Rock Landing Dr., Chesapeake Bldg., Newport News, VA 23606.
