One injured following boat crash in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– Crews in Suffolk are investigating a boat crash Saturday morning.

According to officials, crews were dispatched to a boat crash in the area of 100 Riverside Drive at 1:10 a.m. Three boaters were in a 19-foot Carolina Skiff center console when it stuck an object in the water causing significant damage and loss of power.

One individual was thrown overboard but was able to get back on the vessel with the assistance of the other occupants.

Members of FireBoat 1 boarded the vessel at 1:40 a.m. and treated the injured occupant in Bennett’s Creek. The vessel was then towed by FireBoat 1 to Decoys Seafood Marina.

One occupant was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other two occupants were assessed and refused transport.
