NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A crash at the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel has shut down southbound traffic and caused major delays on Thursday. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the crash happened on the Newport News side of the bridge-tunnel. As of 9:30 a.m., VDOT reported traffic backups are approximately 2 miles.
