IWCS honors December Students of the Month

The Isle of Wight County School Board recently recognized its Seniors of the Month for December: Cassidy “Tess” Blough from Windsor High School and Jaley Anderson from Smithfield High School.

From October through May, the School Board recognizes two Seniors of the Month at its regular monthly board meeting. Each Senior of the Month will receive a $500 scholarship funded by donations from the division’s business partners.

Blough was described in the Isle of Wight County Schools news release as “an exceptional individual, seamlessly blending academic excellence, leadership, athletic dedication and community involvement.”

Ranked fourth academically in her class, she is pursuing both an advanced diploma and an associate degree, “reflecting her commitment to academic rigor.”

“As an AP Scholar and recipient of the Principal’s List, Tess consistently excels in her studies while maintaining numerous leadership roles,” according to the letter nominating her for the Senior of the Month award. “Her extensive extracurricular involvement includes serving as Senior Class president, Junior Class vice president and contributing to the Student Advisory Board and Rigor Committee, where she advocates for meaningful educational change and represents her peers effectively.
