The winter storm that is blowing across Virginia is causing some changes to Monday’s schedule in Hampton Roads.
Gov. Glenn Youngkin declared a state of emergency on Friday, and authorities are gearing up for snowy and icy conditions.
Significant snow, sleet and freezing rain Sunday evening through Monday will impact travel across the region, resulting in dangerous conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield. A wintry mix is expected Monday, with a second round of snow expected late Monday afternoon and evening, as the storm system moves offshore and cold air returns, forecasters warned.
South Hampton Roads is expected to get less than an inch of snow, with more expected near Williamsburg and further north toward Richmond, about 1-2 inches, according to the latest update from NWS.
Several school districts announced closures late Sunday afternoon, and a couple universities announced delays.
