Due to inclement weather, Suffolk City Offices, the Mills E. Godwin, Jr. Courts Building, the North Suffolk Library and Morgan Memorial Library, as well as the East Suffolk Recreation Center and Curtis Milteer Recreation Center will have a delayed opening of 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025. Suffolk Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay. As a result, Suffolk Parks & Recreation Before-School programming is canceled. However, after-school programming will proceed as usual. Suffolk Transit will maintain its regular operating schedule.
The Suffolk Public Works Department is actively preparing for the weather, having already begun loading and brining operations on bridges and elevated roadway surfaces. Their crews will be working in 12-hour shifts to manage roadway conditions. Drivers are urged to exercise caution during inclement weather, maintain a safe speed and distance from other vehicles, and avoid sudden directional changes. They should also keep a safe distance from Public Works vehicles to prevent accidents. To report roadway issues, citizens can contact Public Works at 514-7600. The City of Suffolk will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates to the public.
