Fire crews control Smithfield blaze within 1 hour

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. — One person was injured in a fire at a home in Smithfield late Friday.

The fire was reported at 11:07 p.m. in the 2100 block of Queen Anne’s Court, according to a Facebook post from Isle of Wight County Fire Rescue.

It was initially reported as a brush fire in the woods behind a row of multi-family residential townhomes. However, Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department units arrived and found a two-story, single-family residence fully involved in the woods about 15 yards away from the townhomes.
