Man sentenced to 33 years after fatally shooting man in Portsmouth

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man was sentenced to 33 years in prison for shooting and killing one man and injuring another in a 2022 incident in Portsmouth.

Jerry Pork, Jr. was convicted of several charges in November. On Tuesday, he received the following sentences:

  • First degree murder: sentenced to 40 years, 15 suspended (25 active years in prison) with 5 years probation after
  • Attempted malicious wounding: sentenced to 5 years, 5 year suspended (0 active years in prison)
  • Use of a firearm in commission of a murder: sentenced to 3 years (3 active years in prison)
  • Use of a firearm in attempted malicious wounding: sentenced to 5 years (5 active years in prison)

During Pork’s trial, the Commonwealth found that just after midnight on August 2, 2022, Clack drove to a convenience store on Turnpike Road in Portsmouth with two other men. Pork was also at the store at the same time as Clack, but no altercation occurred between them. Clack and the two others made a purchase and left the store.

Back in the car, Clack reached the intersection of Portsmouth Boulevard and Deep Creek Boulevard. Pork then pulled up beside the vehicle and began firing multiple shots into it, then fled the scene…
