Woman shot by officer in Norfolk, police say

NORFOLK, Va. — A woman was injured after being shot by an officer in Norfolk, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

The shooting happened in the 7600 block of Sewells Point Road, not far from Avenue J, at 1:55 p.m., police said. The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Mark Talbot, chief of Norfolk Police, told 13News Now that they were called to the scene for a report of a female suspect “who was previously involved in an assault.” The woman was carrying a large bag, Talbot said, and police believed it had a weapon in it…
