NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Five animals are dead, a dog and four cats, and a family is displaced following a residential fire at 116 King Forest Lane on May 1, says the Newport News Fire Department (NNFD).
Firefighters received the call around 9:21 a.m. and noticed heavy fire coming from the rear interior. There were nine animals totaled in the house at the time of the fire.
Two adults and a child were not home at the time of the fire, but they have been displaced according to NNFD.
According to Asst Chief Fire Marshal Applewhite, police are investigating the incident as there was some evidence of drugs in the home…
