Virginia Beach residents invited to reclaim forgotten assets during 2-day call event

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A free public service event is being held May 14–15 to help Virginians recover lost or forgotten assets.

Sponsored by the Virginia Beach City Treasurer’s Office and the Virginia Treasury, the seventh annual Unclaimed Property Call Event will allow residents to begin the process of claiming funds that may rightfully belong to them.

According to state officials, one in four Virginians has unclaimed property—money or assets left in dormant or inactive accounts that have been turned over to the Commonwealth of Virginia. These include items such as lost or forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, unpaid wages, stocks, dividends, utility deposits, insurance policy proceeds, and even safe deposit box contents…
