NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi is revoking the city attorney’s ability to prosecute criminal cases in Circuit Court in response to a shoplifting ordinance passed by the city council this week.
In a meeting Tuesday, Norfolk City Council unanimously approved an ordinance that will give the city the power to prosecute shoplifters. However, Fatehi says he’s previously asked for more resources from the city for his office to do that work.
