Virginia Beach School Board votes tonight on policy language changes tied to DEI rollback

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach School Board is set to vote Tuesday night on proposed changes to division policy and strategic plan language, as part of the board’s ongoing implementation of a resolution to remove references to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) from Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS).

The vote follows a series of contentious meetings over the past two months. On April 8, the board approved a resolution to end DEI within the school division, citing concerns that such policies and programs could violate a Trump administration executive order that threatened federal funding for DEI-related initiatives.
