CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office recently announced a donation of two new cemetery markers to honor Afro-Union Civil War Soldiers.
According to a release, the markers were placed at the Unknown and Known Afro-Union Civil War Soldiers Memorial, located at 1001 Bells Mill Road, on Thursday, May 29. Each marker at the memorial includes the soldier’s name, dates of birth and death, rank and company.
