Man convicted of 2022 murder of Alfred Johnson in James City County

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man was convicted of the 2022 killing of Alfred Johnson on Thursday following a three-day jury trial.

On September 13, 2022, officers responded to the 2600 block of Chickahominy Road for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they located 38-year-old Alfred Johnson deceased at the scene.

Lee Rondell Richardson, 43, was determined to be the primary suspect after a few days. With aid from the Newport News Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, Richardson was located in Newport News on September 22 and taken into custody.
