SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A gas leak caused a temporary road closure on Pruden Boulevard Tuesday morning.
According to officials, crews were dispatched to the intersection of Jordan Avenue and Pruden Boulevard just after 10 a.m. for reports of a natural gas leak. An investigation revealed that a crew excavating in the area struck a two-inch high pressure natural gas line, causing it to leak.
Virginia Natural Gas was contacted for assistance and arrived to the scene just before 11 a.m.
As a result of the gas leak, Suffolk Fire & Rescue temporarily closed Pruden Boulevard between Edward Avenue and Godwin Boulevard. The road has since reopened. Eight properties in the area were also temporarily evacuated…
