Keep Suffolk Beautiful hosts free recycling drive

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Keep Suffolk Beautiful is getting ready to host a recycling drive towards the end of June.

According to a release, the free event will take place at Florence Bowser Elementary School from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28. During the event, people will be able to responsibly dispose of clutter. Document shredding and food/toiletry donations will also be accepted.

A list of items that will accepted for disposal can be found below:

  • Electronics (no tube TV’s or TV’s larger than 42-inches)
  • Gently used clothing
  • Wares
  • Plastic bottles and jugs #1 and #2
  • Carboard, paper and magazines
  • Plastic bags
  • Glass containers
  • Oil
  • Batteries
  • Gasoline
  • Cleaners
  • Propane tanks
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • CFL lightbulbs
  • Eyeglasses
  • Hearing aids
  • Gently used plant pots
  • U.S. flags in need of being properly decommissioned

All hazardous waste will require an I.D. for disposal and is limited to 75-pounds of five-gallons…
