VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Seven people were rescued from the Chesapeake Bay on Sunday.
According to a post from the Virginia Beach Fire Department, just after 7 p.m. — hours after units completed water rescue drills on the Chesapeake Bay — crews were dispatched for a real water rescue in the midst of severe weather.
Upon arrival to the scene, Jet Ski 1 was able to find a group of people 500-yards from the shore. Fire Boat 1 found another group just a half-mile off the shore. Ultimately, seven people, two adults and five children were rescued.
Crews said none of rescued individuals were wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported…
