Chesapeake woman accused of falsifying information in illegal gun purchase: VBPD

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A Chesapeake woman was taken into custody July 5 after investigation from the Virginia Beach Police Department revealed a firearm used in a separate incident was purchased illegally, according to VBPD.

Investigation by the police department revealed that Anyssa Wilson, 23, purchased a firearm two days before it was used in a crime with false information. Detectives then obtained a warrant for Wilson and was charged with making a false statement on a firearm transaction form.

“This arrest demonstrates our steadfast determination to hold individuals accountable for diverting firearms into the hands of those who would commit crimes with them,” said VBPD Police Chief Paul Neudigate. “Providing false information during a firearms transaction will not be tolerated, and VBPD will continue to aggressively investigate these cases and pursue criminal charges to protect our community.”…
