CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Great Bridge Bridge in Chesapeake had an unscheduled opening Thursday morning.
According to officials, the opening occurred at 9:25 a.m. and was due to a vessel with hazardous materials.
The unscheduled opening comes after multiple issues with the bridge, including a closure of the bridge for three consecutive days due to heat-related issues and an overnight closure for repairs.
