VSP: Construction worker seriously injured after being struck by vehicle on I-64; driver charged

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A construction worker was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on I-64 Wednesday night.

According to officials, just before midnight, troopers were dispatched to the area of Indian River Road on I-64 for reports of a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

An investigation revealed that the driver of a 2016 Honda four-door, 55-year-old Anthony Laray Jones, was traveling eastbound on I-64 when he swerved and entered a coned off construction zone, where he then struck the construction worker.
