VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Sentara Healthcare has announced that patients can now better plan for visits to the emergency room by viewing estimated wait-times online and in MyChart.
So far, this feature has been rolled out to five of Sentara’s emergency departments:
- Sentara RMH Medical Center (Harrisonburg)
- Sentara Leigh Hospital (Norfolk)
- Sentara Independence (Virginia Beach)
- Sentara Princess Anne Hospital (Virginia Beach)
- Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital (Virginia Beach)
Officials with Sentara say that they expect this feature to be expanded to their other 12 locations by the end of the year. Additionally, patients can also schedule same-day appointments at urgent care and walk-in locations, which are designed to diagnose and treat non-life-threatening injuries.
“Our overall goal is to give our patients more control to determine the best place to seek care, which improves patient outcomes and experience in the communities we serve,” said Kapua Conley, SVP and acute care market president of Sentara’s eastern market. “This initiative makes it easier to get care at Sentara’s emergency departments by allowing patients to see wait times and alert us they are on their way.”…
