NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – The city of Norfolk is currently under an extreme heat warning Sunday, with heat index values expected to rise above 110 degrees. In response to the heat, multiple cooling stations will be open around the city as a part of the Extreme Heat Plan.
The cooling stations will be open through 8 p.m. in efforts to prevent heat-related illness and stress. Here are the available cooling stations:
- The Slover
- Jordan-Newby
- Mary D. Pretlow
- Richard A. Tucker (open until 4 p.m.)
The community service board will also extend their daytime hours until 8 p.m. in response to the heat…
