Electrical issue sparks fire, displaces family in Virginia Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Four people and one dog have been displaced after a fire on Shenstone Drive in Virginia Beach on Sunday morning.

The fire in the Lake Shores area was reported at 11:39 a.m., according to the Virginia Beach Fire Department. Crews arrived at 11:45 a.m. to find smoke showing from the attic of the single-story home.

Crews had water on the fire at 11:55 a.m., marked it under control at 12:05 p.m. and marked it out at 12:21 p.m.

The four adults and one dog were displaced, but there were no injuries to civilians, firefighters or pets. The origin of the fire was due to an electrical issue in the attic. The Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing…
