The search for a man accused of murdering a woman in a Chesapeake apartment and shooting two responding officers ended Thursday morning in Portsmouth, where police took him into custody after a brief standoff, according to both city’s police departments.
Shaun Boker, 39, was considered at-large when Portsmouth police arrested him around 9 a.m. on Cypress Road, off Portsmouth Boulevard. A neighbor tells News 3 reporter Colter Anstaett that Boker was found in a brick house that belongs to his parents, adding that he was in a garage at the back of the home. Whether or not the house belongs to the suspect’s parents has not been confirmed by police as of this writing.
Boker is facing the following charges, police say:
- First-degree murder
- Two counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer
- Two counts of aggravated malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer
- Three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
- Discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling
The charges stem from shootings that left a woman dead and two responding officers hurt, according to police, in the 500 block of Willow Bridge Court, just off Greenbrier Parkway near City Park. News 3 has since learned the incident happened at a unit in a complex called Woodbridge Apartments.
Chesapeake police officers were sent to the apartment around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a reported domestic assault. When officers arrived, they heard a woman screaming for help inside the apartment, according to police.
